In this project, I created two animal crossing characters based off of members of the group EXO. Each member has their own mascot and I wanted to use their cartoon-ness in my characters. I had drawn out sketches of what the characters should look like beforehand and for my first project of the year, this is what I wanted to do. I never got around to doing all of the ones I wanted to and I didn't even complete these two but it was a fun project to work on. I struggled the most with coloring in this project, because lineart is also a struggle for me. I wanted to color it like I would with most of my paintings but the style of coloring had to be different for it to look right and it was hard to figure out.
For the dog, I based that character of off Byun Baekhyun. His personality is playful and funny so most people say that he is a puppy. From this, I gave him the coloring of a beagle. For the penguin, I based that character off of D.O. People say that he has large eyes, and he is the shortest member so I used a penguin for him. I gave the penguin a sort of angry looking appearance with the eyebrows.
